The community is invited to a webcast by Nobel Laureate and University of Chicago professor James Heckman, who will talk about how one of the best way to reduce mountain budget deficits is to invest in early childhood education.
Heckman says that early childhood education up to age 5 is the most effective way to produce better outcomes in education, health and economic productivity, according to a news release by the First 5 Commission of San Joaquin County.
The talk will be held in Monterey County, but local residents may watch the webcast from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, Nelson Center/Locke Auditorium, 2901 Arch/Airport Way, Stockton.
