LODI —The Lodi Planning Commission will meet tonight to consider four applications for use permits, including two wineries.

Denise Lane of Person Centered Services wants to open a community care center for special-needs adults on North Cherokee Lane and Pioneer Drive. The center would offer training for daily living and self-care.

David Burkhart of Lodi Aggregates submitted an application to build a concrete recycling center on East Lockeford Street. Rock and concrete would only be crushed once or twice a month. The business would then sell sand and crushed rock wholesale to contractors and landscapers.

Jeremy Trettavik hopes to expand Jeremy Wine Co. by building a winemaking center on Black Diamond Way. There will be enough room to hold 25 barrels during fermenting and 200 cases of finished wine, as well as a lab and office.

Jeff Hansen of AH Wines wants to build a winery on East Vine Street in a vacant industrial building. Since he is a new winemaker, he also needs several alcohol licenses.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Carnegie Forum at 305 W. Pine St., Lodi.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
