The driver of a blue or green Chevrolet Silverado truck led Sacramento police and other authorities on a high-speed chase through Galt, Elk Grove and South Sacramento early Wednesday night.

The driver led police on the chase, which began at Highway 99 and Florin Road and went south through Galt, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman Michael Bradley. He sped south to Liberty Road and went back north on Highway 99 until he was stopped and arrested shortly after 6:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 99 and Calvine Road in Elk Grove, Bradley said.

News reports say that the man, who was linked to a shooting last week at a Sacramento store, was driving with his headlights out and stopped by a spike strip in Elk Grove. His name was not disclosed early Wednesday evening.

A witness who was driving through Galt at the time said that the suspect, driving south on Highway 99, took the Central Galt exit and crossed the A Street overpass to the east side of the freeway.

No other information was available.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
