On Thursday, the Lockeford Municipal Advisory Council also:
Learned from San Joaquin County Sheriff Steve Moore that the Board of Supervisors will not cut from the sheriff's budget during the 2012-13 fiscal year.
Moore also urged the MAC and other Lockeford residents to call the sheriff's dispatch whenever they see any suspicious activity. Deputies can do a better job of patrolling the area if calls keep coming in.
Heard a report from MAC member Lani Eklund about the county's application for federal Safe Routes to School funding. Possible projects from the program, if the county is awarded the grant, include sidewalks on Tully Road for children to safely walk or bicycle to Lockeford Elementary School.
Eklund said she's also like to see a sign informing motorists how fast they are driving near the school.
Discussed the idea of requesting a traffic signal at the Highway 88-Jack Tone Road Bypass intersection.
"I don't use that intersection because it's so dangerous," MAC member Patti Stetson said.
Stetson said that when she goes shopping in the area near the Jack Tone Road Bypass, she'll take back roads to the traffic light at Tully Road and Highway 88. The most hazardous turn at the bypass is making a left turn onto Highway 88 toward Lodi.
"I've seen several near-misses at that intersection," MAC chairman Joe Sublett said. "It's gotten a lot worse in the last four or five years."
The MAC agreed to talk more with residents to see if they should request a traffic signal from the county and the California Department of Transportation

A Lockeford Community Services District board member expressed his disappointment that construction hasn't begun on Lockeford's new 4-acre park on Jack Tone Road.
Noel Stetson, a Community Services District board member, told community leaders on Thursday that administrative issues have precluded development from beginning as soon as he'd like. When completed, it will be Lockeford's first-ever park.
