Several Lodi churches are working with the Salvation Army of Lodi to gather shoes for children before school starts. This is the fourth year groups have collected shoes, but the effort has grown, along with the size of the donation bin.
Good Samaritans can leave their donations in a giant shoe located at the corner of California Street and Palm Avenue in Lodi. The shoe measures 7-by-3-by-7 feet and was used on a float in last year’s Parade of Lights. The churches involved include Emmanuel Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Church, Bethel Church and Lodi Community Church, along with others.
To help raise money for more shoes, a coalition of churches are putting on a combination bake and rummage sale on July 7. The sale will be at 830 Park St. in Lodi, and is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
