I wonder if a student can get out of taking this shot if the parents don't believe in giving their kids shots.

Good question K... I "think"it is mandatory... but you wonder if there is "will" to enforce since financially, the district can ill afford the loss of income that enforcement would result in...

Of course I would pit my reading comprehension skills against yours any day, Mr. Baxter.

Mr Baxter... please do not question Ms Bobin's comprehension skills... they are uncanny.. After all , how wrong could she be... she sees bigots around "every" corner... tree and bush in Lodi... even at Starbuck's coffee... somehow, when I read the conclusions she draws using her comprehension skills... a picture of Barney Fife appears in my mind... he was very comical....as is Ms Bobin. I think there is value in making light of reality....

Thank you for addressing the problem the letter poses... it is a problem and I hope it gets resolved soon...
Maybe all this hot air about bigots and racists will help in some way... but I have a feeling that the only thing it will do is create calluses on some poster's fingers.

JOANNE, you absolutely make me laugh to the point that my stomach hurts. If you were as smart as you want people to believe you are, your posts would reflect some modicum of intelligence. But you continue to prove your liberal ignorance on a regular basis. Keep it up, your posts are always amusing and misguided.

I don't know why I am even bothering to respond to this ignorance if only to point out that it is a complete ignorant who would write such a statement.

Mr. Chapman's statement is actually something someone who desperately wants to counter a comment, but does not possess the knowledge or intelligence to do so, would make.

    Sad.

I never said you hate Hispanics. I didn't have to. You make your hatred for Hispanics very clear every time you post a snide comment to an article that can in any way be connected to (actually, in this case not) providing services to people you perceive to be illegal.

Mr. Chaney, people visiting America on a visitor's visa aren't going to enroll their children in American schools. If they do, they plan on over staying their visa which is ILLEGAL also. ILLEGAL, BREAKING THE LAW, subject to penalties and deportation.

Chaney, following your logic , I should be able to break as many laws as I want but I won't actually be a lawbreaker until I get caught and convicted? Do you even process your thoughts before you post them?

Joanne Bobin, your reading comprehension skills are sorely lacking. I have NEVER said I don't like hispanics or any other ethnicity. What I have ALWAYS said, and you seem not to be able to read that part, is that I am against people who are in America ILLEGALLY and sucking up all the resources that good honest working American taxpayers funding. What part of the word ILLEGAL do you not understand?

Mr. Chaney, I do not carry my birth certificate with me at all times. But I can produce it if the situation warrants it. I do carry a valid drivers license, social security card, military card and another form of ID at all times. So let's just cut that back to a child's parents producing a valid drivers license, social security card and a green card. If they can't prove they are in this country LEGALLY, theif kid doesn't get enrolled. And if you feel they are entitled to an education, YOU take them into your home and pay for their education.

Mr. Chapman, et al, you aren't an illegal immigrant until you are apprehended and found guilty by the US justice system. How do you know that these "illegal aliens', or Mexicans as you seem to assume, are sometimes here on a travel visa, sometimes up to ninety days, carry a green card, or merely cross the border to visit the US for up to 14 days or so, like many visitors do every day of the year at the Canada,US/ Mexico borders? I, like Joanne, lived mostly in NYC from 2000-2007 taking care of my wife's mother who was afflicted with dementia and Alzheimers. She was Russian, a citizen, spoke very little English, and all of our acquaintances were either Polish, German or Russian, which my wife speaks fluently. Tens of thousands of these same people come from their homeland every day to visit legally with 90 day travel visas and when the 90 days are up, many don't bother to go home. They share and use one anothers' ID and SS #'s and many eventually eventually become citizens legally through US immigration services. Any immigrant uses the same discretionary practices to gain entry into the US. They don't, as you seem to appear to think, sneak through the desert at night and infiltrate this country. A short lesson in tolerance is a good start to cure some of these bloggers of their ignorance and understanding of other ethnicities other than Caucasian.

Mr. Chaney, you are absolutely correct about Reagan granting amnesty. Solved all the illegal alien prblems, didn't it. Now Obama wants to do the same thing, only hoping this time he will get it done prior to the 2012 elections so he can count on their votes.
They keep breaking the law by border jumping, we keep granting amnesty, what's the point? America needs to model their laws after Mexico and deal with illegals the same way they do.

Strange comment for a "man" (referring only to gender) who turns articles on public health and Taco Trucks into opportunities to make racial comments about immigrants, illegal or otherwise.

Mr. Smith: Refer to my comment regarding the Obama Administration deporting more illegals in 2 1/2 years than Bush did in 8. Bush was too busy cozying up to former Mexican president Fox and trying to impress people with his (Spanish) language skills.

Mr. Baxter: I first came to Lodi in 1977. The first thing my Japanese American co-worker did, a woman who had herself been interned with her family during WWII (family also lost all property and possessions in Acampo and came back to nothing after the war) was give me the run-down on Lodi, or the "rules" so-to-speak.

Quote: "If you ever see a black person in Lodi, they are here to rob someone. If you ever see a black person driving a nice car, they stole it."

My first lesson in Lodi bigotry - and from a woman who had been a victim herself. Now that's playing by the Lodi rule book.

I grew up in New York City where people referred to others of different ethnicities and races by all of the same words Archie Bunker used. It wasn't acceptable then and it isn't acceptable now, nor is any type of joke that is racially motivated.

I'm sorry that your background does not permit you to move into the 21st century.

Bob Smith, the first words babies usually learn are "mommy" and "daddy" or some form of those two words. The first words Joanne Bobin learned were "bigot" and "racist".
As all slobbering liberals do, it is their chosen rebuttal to anything conservative Americans advocate. Doesn't matter whether or not is actually bigotry or racism, they use these two words because they have no other intelligent means to rebut anything.

Joanne, there's a difference. Illegal immigrants are ILLEGAL. They are not supposed to be here. Our government has not given them permission to be here, unless you see our government's inaction to remove them as permission. ILLEGAL. Do you know what that means? Apparently not.

The self denial of bigotry and racism is a serious illness in these modern times. This isn't 1950's Lodi, or is it? According to naive remarks by certain bloggers in the Sentinel, racism and bigotry are indeed alive and well in livable, lovable Lodi.

Not insane. Not a fool. Please quote the sentence in which I used the word "hate."

Questioning your sanity right now after re-reading all posts. The only person who used the word "hate" was Bob Smith, quote, "I HATE illegal immigrants."

I said nothing of hate , I just stated my opinion and you two brought the hate!!! GOOD DAY!!

Bob Smith: News flash! - even illegal persons pay taxes, if their employer (WHO HAS OBVIOUSLY EMPLOYED THEM ILLEGALLY) is actually paying their payroll taxes to the government. Many of these employers deduct Federal and State taxes (including SS and Medicare) that are never remitted to the respective government agencies.

Mr. Baxter (the bigot-in-chief): If illegals are renting, a portion of their rent goes toward the landlords' property taxes that go to (wait for it!!) PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

Mr. Turner: To state that ALL illegals use social services at the expense of the taxpayer is incorrect. Many do, Not all, not every one of them as your post states.

"Angry?" You 3 started the angry, bigoted rant - totally off topic of the article.

Raymond Cook: here's a link to look at (Fox News, so you don't claim it is a news bastion for "DemoRats." The Obama Administration has deported more illegals in the past 2 1/2 years than George Bush deported in 8 years.

Mr. Jackson, just because you have Mexican friends doesn't mean you can't fib a little about really liking them, does it? And what if some of those parents don't speak English. as many bloggers seem to infer on these blogs? Were they sent flyers in Spanish, Urdu, etc.? Or contacted by one of the LUSD interpreters? Many bigots I come in contact in my volunteer work with use that same old excuse about having a "best friend" who is of another ethnicity that really doesn't exist but they offer the explanation anyway although most already know where they come from on their racist attitudes.

They shouldn't have to prove citizenship, just legal resident status. I hate illegal immigrants, but have no problem with legally entering the US. If a person who is here legally doesn't want to become a citizen that's up to them. They can still pay their fair share of taxes without being a citizen.

If a student of any race does not have the Tdap shot they should not be allowed into school, period. LUSD has sent out flyers, phone calls, emails, etc on this subject. The LNS has has several articles as well. Parents have had more that 90 days from the first day of school to get this simple shot. It is called ACCOUNTABILITY. If LUSD rolls over on this topic and lets kids in school without the shot what message is that sending to the parents and children?

I am no racist as some of my best friends are Mexican-Americans. Heck, I even dated a few back in the day. But I do have to agree with Joe & Richard. If the USA continues to give every single illegal resident free housing, food, medical, and education they will continue to leave Mexico & all of Central America for Utopia, the USofA.

    WHEN is enough enough?

not wanting illegal immigration does not make me a bigot!!! I guess that makes you and Mr Chaney conspiracy theorist. And you both seem so angry and ready to attack anyone with an opposing view!!! It is what it is...illegal immigrants have fractured our whole public systems!! I never said they were bad people....They come because everything is free for them...otherwise they would go through the correct channels to become an American citizen!!! gutless is someone who uses phrases like bigot brigade and pieces of garbage to provoke an angry response. Having a civil discussion is hard when you project such hate!!

Leave it to the Lodi Bigot Brigade to turn a public health issue into racist rants about illegal aliens.

You are correct, Mr. Chaney. And Republicans Orin Hatch and John McCain first introduced the DREAM Act.

Now NO immigration reform is making its way through Congress due to stonewalling by Republicans. There motto is "No action is better than the wrong action" that might not get them re-elected. We should vote out these gutless pieces of garbage.

Mr. Baxter and Cook, do you carry your citizenship papers with you? Wouldn't it only be fair for ALL students to prove their citizenship? Wasn't Ronald Reagan the president that first granted amnesty to ALL illegal citizens when he was president, that set the precedent for others to follow?

In addition to these immunizations, they should add CITIZENSHIP. If the child is not a citizen then it follows their parents aren't either. No papers, NO SCHOOL or free anything paid for by American taxpayers.
