Lodi resident Danilo Sandoval, 20, was shot to death in Thornton during an argument Friday night at a Chevron gas station on Walnut Grove Road, just east of Interstate 5, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.
A second man, Giovanni Navarro, 21, was shot once. Navarro stumbled into the mini-mart and was taken to Lodi Memorial Hospital for treatment, sheriff’s Lt. Jim Cannon said.
Navarro was listed in serious condition Sunday at Lodi Memorial Hospital, according to a nursing supervisor.
Witnesses reported that there were three cars involved, but everyone who wasn't injured had left the gas station before deputies arrived, Cannon.
"What it looks like is that there was a disturbance between the cars at the gas pumps. It escalated, and there was an exchange of gunfire," said Cannon.
Lt. Mike Van Grouw said on Sunday afternoon that detectives had not caught any suspects.
