Two men accused of murdering Stockton man to appear in court

Two men accused of killing a 25-year-old Stockton man in January will appear in court on Monday for a preliminary hearing.

San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputies arrested James Wallace, 28, and Frederick Stewart, 34, in connection with the shooting death of Jerry Lee Khaoone, police said.

A passing motorist spotted Khaoone’s body while driving west along Highway 99 Frontage and Peltier roads at around 5 a.m. Jan. 27.

Khaoone had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said.

In February, an investigation led detectives to Sacramento, where they said they found Stewart and Wallace. The pair were taken to San Joaquin County Jail, where they’re being held without bail.

Wallace and Stewart, who have each served previous prison terms, are being held on several charges including first-degree murder. At the time of his arrest, Wallace had a warrant in Sacramento County on suspicion of possessing a firearm and possessing cocaine in order to sell it.

Monday’s preliminary hearing will begin at 9 a.m. in San Joaquin County Superior Court in department 26.
