Here are the top graduating students for 2011 from Tokay High School:

Andrea Ikeda

Cumulative grade point average: 4.477.

Names of parents or guardians: Steve and Kathy Ikeda.

Post-graduation plans: Attending University of California, Berkeley; undecided major.

What are your goals for the next 10 years: I hope to be doing something I enjoy that will have a positive impact on society.

Clubs and activities during high school: Varsity tennis and soccer, Science Olympiad, Academic Decathlon, Key club, national Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, Gay-Straight Alliance, Book Club, Science Club.

Most memorable experience: Winning Science Olympiad regional competition in senior year by 1 point over Tracy High.

If you could thank anyone for contributing to your education, who would it be and why: My parents, because they’ve always supported me in all my activities without pressuring me to be anything I’m not.

Kristy Chang

Cumulative grade point average: 4.465.

Names of parents or guardians: Lyman and Ling Chang.

Post-graduation plans: University of California, Davis; Civil Engineering.

What are your goals for the next 10 years: Attend University of California, Davis for four years, find a job, and possibly go back for my Masters.

Clubs and activities during high school: Key Club, Science Club, National Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation, Academic Decathlon, Japanese Club Friday Night Live, Varsity badminton.

Most memorable experience: There were too may memorable experiences to choose just one.

If you could thank anyone for contributing to your education, who would it be and why: My sister because she has always been my inspiration and goal. She was always here when I needed help on my homework, or just when I needed someone to compete with in order to escalate my own goals and aspire to reach them.

Mandy Majidian

Cumulative grade point average: 4.432.

Names of parents or guardians: Majid and Sally Majidian.

Post-graduation plans: University of California, Los Angeles, majoring in French and Linguistics.

What are your goals for the next 10 years: After graduate school, I would like to spend a few years in France and then potentially become a translator for the UN.

Clubs and activities during high school: French Club, CSF, NHS, Book Club, tennis.

Most memorable experience: Going to Camp RYLA and playing tennis with fellow pinnacle member Andrea Ikeda!

If you could thank anyone for contributing to your education, who would it be and why: My parents because they always believed I would succeed and encouraged me every step of the way!

Kevin Parungao Arcalas

Cumulative grade point average: 4.4.

Names of parents or guardians: Ruth and Jose Arcalas.

Post-graduation plans: Use summer to spend time with friends. Go to University of California, Davis and major in Aerospace Engineering.

What are your goals for the next 10 years: Learn how to live independently by doing my own laundry, cooking my own meals, etc. Get a job as an engineer. Build something that would amaze people.

Clubs and activities during high school: Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, Academic Decathlon, badminton, track, cross country, National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, Key Club, AVID Club, Science Club, Japanese Club, Friday Night Live, Do Something Club.

Most memorable experience: My most memorable experience would have to be when I almost had to shave my head due to a bet. If my Science Olympiad team during senior year didn’t win 1st place at the regional competition, I had to shave my head. Fortunately, my team won 1st place by one point!

If you could thank anyone for contributing to your education, who would it be and why: I would like to thank all the coaches and parents from Science Olympiad, because they gave me the opportunity to realize and explore my passion for science. Of course, I would also like to thank my parents for always trusting me when it came to school. The freedom they’ve always given me has allowed me to enjoy school through my own decisions.

Mitchell Addler

Cumulative grade point average: 4.4.

Names of parents or guardians: David and Ann Marie Addler.

Post-graduation plans: Attend Santa Clara University to study Engineering Physics.

What are your goals for the next 10 years: Obtain a Master’s Degree or Doctorate in either Physics or Mathematics and begin a career with a technology company in Silicon Valley.

Clubs and activities during high school: Member of the German Club, Sights and Sounds Club, volunteer Physics tutor.

Most memorable experience: Being selected for, and attending Boys’ State. It was such an honor to be chosen and it was an incredible learning experience for me.

If you could thank anyone for contributing to your education, who would it be and why: If I had to thank just one of the many people who contributed to my education it would have to be Mr. Heinrich, the Physics teacher at Tokay. Not only did he spark my interest in Physics, but he continuously challenged me and pushed me to achieve my full potential.

Navneet Binning

Cumulative grade point average: 4.4.

Names of parents or guardians: Sunny and Kinder Binning.

Post-graduation plans: I’m going to University of California, Los Angeles and majoring in Business Economics.

What are your goals for the next 10 years: Go to graduate school — get an MBA and law degree, start a career in the business field, travel the world and see where else life takes me.

Clubs and activities during high school: National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation — Seal Bearer, Link Crew, Lodi Youth Commission — Teen Lead, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Volunteered at Lodi Memorial Hospital and Micke Grove Museum.

Most memorable experience: I went to India, England and France during the Christmas break of my senior year — it was such an amazing experience!

If you could thank anyone for contributing to your education, who would it be and why: Definitely my parents, because they always encouraged me and had faith in me. I am so thankful to them for everything they have done.

Nathan Suess

Cumulative grade point average: 4.34.

Names of parents or guardians: Rod and Janeen Suess.

Post-graduation plans: Attending Azusa Pacific University to major in Business Administration.

What are your goals for the next 10 years: Graduate APU possibly get a graduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, then make my way into the video game industry.

Clubs and activities during high school: National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, Quill and Scroll Club, Journalism Club, soccer, band, boxing, yearbook and journalism staff.

Most memorable experience: Being a part of the Tokay Band, going on the trips and spending the time with friends.

If you could thank anyone for contributing to your education, who would it be and why: Mr. Talbert and Mr. Woo for challenging me and pushing me to succeed, my parents and family for encouraging me along the way.

Ann Price

Cumulative grade point average: 4.34.

Names of parents or guardians: Carla and Brian Price.

Post-graduation plans: Chapman University (in Orange, Calif.) — Majoring in English — Playing Division 3 Water Polo.

What are your goals for the next 10 years: Masters degree (possibly BA) — Career: Undecided.

Clubs and activities during high school: National Honor Society (Vice President), California Scholarship Federation (CSF Seal bearer), Varsity water polo, Varsity swimming.

Most memorable experience: Being on Homecoming Court, Going to Section Semi — Finals with my Varsity Water Polo team.

If you could thank anyone for contributing to your education, who would it be and why: My parents for never pressuring me, but always motivating and inspiring me.

Madeline Franklin

Cumulative grade point average: 4.33.

Names of parents or guardians: Joe and Kara Franklin.

Post-graduation plans: University of California, Berkeley with an undeclared major that might turn into mathematics.

What are your goals for the next 10 years: I hope to graduate with honors, maybe attend graduate school, start my career, travel the world and increase Celiac Disease awareness so much that American McDonald’s will sell me hamburgers with gluten-free buns just like Finnish McDonald’s!

Clubs and activities during high school: Cheer, diving, journalism (sports editor), AVID tutor, math tutor, political campaign intern, Tokay Thunder Elite Cheer coach, hospital volunteer, Conflict Management, National Merit Commended Student, Foto Club, French Club, Homecoming Court.

Most memorable experience: MC2 nights, Jersey Shore Homecoming Court, and four years of very tasteful cheer camp.

If you could thank anyone for contributing to your education, who would it be and why: My parents for always supporting me and my friends for keeping me sane.
