Lodi police successfully detonated a mysterious bag Thursday morning on the 800 block of Elm Street.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., Lodi police and the department’s bomb squad were called after a woman walking her dog reported seeing a mysterious black bag on the side of the road, Sgt. Steve Nelson said.
According to Nelson, officers discovered a black bag with tubing and wire wrapped around it.
After closing off a section of Elm Street, Det. Steve Maynard and Sgt. David Griffin of the Lodi Police Department inspected and ultimately detonated the bag, Nelson said.
Despite the fact that the appearance of the medium-sized bag made it seem as if it were wired to be a bomb, Nelson said that was not intentional.
He added that police removed the bag from the area out of caution.
“It was simply a bag that was wrapped with a hose that had (stuff) in it,” Nelson said.
