With Lodi Unified School District employees enjoying the news that the district stands to gain an estimated $28 million in Proposition 30 funds, union representatives asked the board of trustees on Tuesday to restore some of the wages employees gave up during the recession.
Police arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly severely beat his stepsister in Lodi on Monday evening, Lodi Police said.
Last weekend, a maintenance worker found 10 Chihuahuas abandoned in a vacant Lodi home. So he wrangled up the tiny family in the 700 block of South Church Street and delivered it to the Lodi Animal Shelter.
Water lapping dangerously close to motorists driving along the back side of Lodi Lake. A boat launch partially under water, and the base of trees now submerged. Jeff Hood, director of the city’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services department, is concerned these and other city assets are being affected by unusually high water.
A 70-year-old Lodi woman was one of two people killed late Friday night in a head-on collision on West Lane, just north of Eight Mile Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
