California is suffering through a severe drought. Why? I Kings 8:35 says, in part, “... the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against You.” Can you think of any state-wide sins that might be serious enough to provoke God to respond with a severe drought? What about the 50,000,000+ unborn Americans who have died at the hands of abortionist since Roe v. Wade in 1972? That is enough abortions to depopulate the entire state of California with 12,750,000 aborted children left over! We have also sinned in our attempt to redefine marriage, which was established by God, NOT us. So perhaps it would be wise to pray something like this:
Father, we, the people of California, are suffering from a severe drought which may be Your response to our sins which include the legalization of abortion, and the U.S. District Court’s nullification of Proposition 8, a California State Constitutional amendment which declared marriage to be between a man and a woman. Therefore we pray that you would hear from heaven, forgive our sins, and grant us grace to battle lovingly for the sanctity of all human life, and it’s protection from the moment of conception until natural death.
We also pray for the preservation of marriage as it was originally established by God in Genesis 2:24 which clearly declares, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” Please forgive us for our past arrogance and rebellion against your clear and indisputable plans for us. Amen.
