Even though Kathleen (Kat) McDonnell raced BMX bikes, swam on the swim team and kept up with her five brothers, weight has always been a struggle. Two years ago, she reached her highest weight ever, 512 pounds. With motivation to change, she began working out three times a day and structured a healthy diet that she stuck to.
In the first three months, she lost 80 pounds. Total, she’s lost about 160 pounds. As a certified chef and the new food services director at Austin Gardens Alzheimer’s community in Lodi, McDonnell, who moved to Lodi three weeks ago, is ready to get back into the gym and continue her weight loss success. Here, she talks about health, how she lost the weight and how she’s going to lose even more.
