Hannah, each time I read a blog coming from you, you have an interesting perspective. Im curious... what movies have you seen that are intriguing to you?... I know there is no right answer... just curious. I have gravitated to Kroean drama and comedy as I have not been interested in American movies for a while... any suggestion?

Ditto on Jim Carrey.
I'm aghast at the nomination of Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp for their roles in The Tourist. My brother and I laughed our way through it, guessing the "twist" immediately, and mocking Jolie's monotone performance(and unchanging facial expression) throughout. Seriously, the crackling of our candy wrappers was more intriguing than this flimsy, bland, yawn-paced bit of a film. And Burlesque for best picture? *Insert guffaw here*

Jim Carrey is a great actor. He never gets his proper due...
Oh my, I think I must disagree, I think he has gotten his proper due, more than needed.
I cannot imagine watching a movie that could put me to sleep faster than a typical Jim Carry movie... well... maybe Letterman could beat him out... but not by far.... and if the only good movies out now are only shown in San Francisco, its time to close the movie industry.

Jim Carrey is definitely a good actor, and he's repeatedly surprised me in his dramatic roles, but I still think it's a bit of a stretch to compare him with Daniel Day-Lewis. But I'll have to check out "I Love You Phillip Morris".
I take it you haven't seen "Black Swan" yet? I saw it a couple nights ago and can't stop thinking about it. It's really intense, and I never expected to say that about a movie about ballet. One of my favorites of the year so far.
Also, you reminded me that I need to see "Leaves of Grass".
