My instructions for this week weren’t very specific — I was simply assigned to write up something “food-related” to stay with the theme of this week’s Lodi Living. And when I’m not given ironclad instructions, I tend to take advantage of the situation and use it as an excuse to get a little weird. So, I present to you a painstakingly assembled hodgepodge of awesome food-related things in movies, in no order and adhering to absolutely no rules or guidelines. Bon appetit?

I would like to add my own candidate to the "Best death by food" category. Clive Owen killing a henchman in "Shoot Em Up" by punching a carrot in the guy's mouth through the back of his head.
Terrible movie, great death.

Yeah, I should have specified the DVD (unrated) version of American Pie, because I never saw it in the theater.

Hey, Chris. Yeah, my better half gave me a right good verbal spanking over my exclusion of the "Rocky Horror" scene (one of her favorite flicks, and though I'm an admirer I've never counted myself among the true "fans"). "American Pie" I definitely should have included, with the caveat that you should watch the unrated cut, which includes a FAR funnier version of that scene vs. the theatrical cut (the "It's not what it looks like" line, in particular, has far greater effect when Biggs is actually ON the table with his pants down.) And "Stand By Me" is on my list of movies I've inexplicably never got around to seeing. It was made in the prime of Reiner's career, though, and people keep urging me...
BTW, caught about half of "My Dinner With Andre" a couple months back. Not my kinda thing, and that one guy (not Wallace Shawn) kinda grated on me after a while. I suppose it's a fine line between profound and pretentious sometimes.

I'm surprised you never mentioned the dinner scene from Rocky Horror, where the Meat Loaf was under the table, rather than ON the table.
Another scene involving food was that poor old pie from the 1st American Pie- most un-necessary use of a dessert.
Speaking of pie, lets not forget that memorable scene from Stand By Me, where everyone gets sick.
Honorable mention goes to Star Trek 6- The Undiscovered Country, the film metaphore for the ending of the Cold War where the humans and klingons shared an uncomfortable dinner and their hope and skepticism was, pardon the pun, on the table.
