Ice on the Delta in Stockton
As downtown Stockton draws more and more people seeking entertainment venues, planners are finding improved ways to bring people into the area.
After a concert, a movie or even a stand-up comedy act, visitors can stay and play at the outdoor ice skating rink set up for the holiday season.
Ice on the Delta is touted as a great way to enjoy the crisp cool air, get some exercise and spend time with the family.
The surface of the rink is made of a synthetic material to keep novice skaters from slipping, and if someone does fall, they won't get wet from ice.
This year the venue has moved to Dean DeCarli Square, which is next to the City Centre 16 movie theater. It's sponsored by River City Bank.
Tuesdays at the rink are family fun days. Family members can get one free admission with the purchase of three admissions.
Wednesdays are grandparents day. Grandparents accompanied by their grandchildren skate for free.
There are a host of other special events that will be taking place, such as a karaoke night, a '70s night, crazy hair and hat day and high school spirit nights.

"White Christmas" in Sonora
Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" was first released in 1954 as a musical film starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen.
The plot revolved around two army buddies who reunite after the war to become a performing duo. Throughout the movie, they help their former commanding officer save his lodge, they both fall in love and everything is "merry and bright."
Now the cast and crew of Sonora's Sierra Repertory Theatre is bringing the songs and story to the stage of their East Sonora playhouse.
With songs like "Sisters," "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep" and, of course "White Christmas," and with a cast starring the likes of Dennis Clark and Kevin Henry as the main characters, the Berlin classic is guaranteed to delight old and new fans alike.
When: Today through Dec. 23.
Where: Sierra Repertory Theatre, 13891 Highway 108, Sonora.
