A living history of the Civil War will be open to the public on Aug. 25 in Lockeford.

The event, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will be on the lawn in front of the old Lockeford schoolhouse, 19456 N. Jack Tone Road. It won’t be a full re-enactment — no “battles” are planned, said Acampo resident Mike McPherson, who is organizing the event.

McPherson said he is trying to get local Miwok Indians to participate in the living history, but nothing has been confirmed.

In addition to the living history, the 19th century restored schoolhouse will be open to the public, and the Clements-Lockeford Lions Club will sell tri-tip sandwiches.
