Little girl, I know your pain

Life is just that way,

On your skin, will scar and stain

The ache of every day.

Keep the truth upon your lips

And hold your chin up high

Sway those sassy, little hips

And look up toward the sky.

Never cower to the ground

Or let them get inside,

Those who care are all around

Dear girl, now you can’t hide.

Don’t let them get under your skin

There’s things that they can’t see,

Even with all that’s within

They won’t know who you’ll be.
