In another dimension,

Where Angels wage war with

Evil forces, in a firmament

Beyond the clouds ... here

Lies a parallel universe,

Existing in real time, defying

Logic, representing Hope.

In this merciful, just

New Jerusalem, this

Celestial City flowing with

Milk and honey — plus wine,

Oil, water — and Green

Pastures ... here lies Paradise,

A jewel-walled city lined with

Pearly gates, golden streets.

Floating Angels play harps,

Blow trumpets to a gleaming

Light flowing like a river.

Now it exists out of reach, a

Babel-like stairway to the

Stars, beyond Dickinson’s

“Apple just out of reach,”

Higher than Mt. Olympus.

We look up, praying for

Answers, seeking manna to

Rain down, bringing to us

Salvation/Eternal Life.

We obey practical mitzvoth,

Desiring a just elect.

Maybe dark-eyed maidens

Await to make a Heaven

Of our current Hell, and,

Hence, a hell of heaven.

Surely we will find

Resurrection or possibly

Reincarnation, but

Hopefully not cold, dark

Sheol ... and certainly not

“Lights our,” certainly

Not nothing.
