Listen up now people there’s a story to be told
About a thing that happened to me
And it wasn’t long ago
It was late at night and raining
And I was driven all alone
When my motor started missing
And I didn’t think I’d make it home
So I pulled into a parking lot
To see what I could do
And there a sign said welcome
To the House of Blues
So I stepped inside the building
Ya know the place was really packed
I asked the bartender about the phone
He introduced himself as Jack
He handed me a cold one and said
Kick back and hang around
We got a band for one night only
Playen blues and gettun down.
The sound man hit the stage lights
And a drummer took his chair
Everybody on the stage was a legend standing there
I saw Freddy king and Albert
On I’ll play the blues for you
Stevie Ray and Jimmy Hendrix
Said let us show what we can do.
On the side was Buddy Holly
Richey Valens and Otis to.
Then everything got real quiet
At The House of Blues
The curtain finally opened
And you couldn’t hear a thing
Everybody should respect
For Elvis the King
Yea I woke up in the morning
The sun was shining and the rain had stopped
I was lying on the front seat in an empty parking lot
There was a bottle there beside me
It was dry nothing left
The last thing I remembered
I was dancing with the best.
I asked an old man that was sweeping
Ain’t this The House of Blues?
He said, ‘Yea you right son.
But it’s been closed since ’62.
