If you like music that swings, attend the Casey MacGill's Blue 4 Trio concert on March 22 at utchins Street Square.

Some call it the Nat "King" Cole Trio meets the Mills Brothers. Others call it Fats Waller meets Fats Domino, or Slim Galliard meets Fred Astaire.

Boogie-woogie pianist MacGill leads bassist Matt Weiner and percussionist Mike Daugherty through soulful renditions of pre-World War II swing classics, complete with impeccable three-part vocal harmonies (and even a little ukulele). At the core of the sound are the band's sometimes sweet, sometimes rough-hewn three-part harmony vocals and a piano-ukulele-bass-and drums rhythm section that swings along in a variety of textures.

A Blue 4 Trio includes hits from their two CDs, including "Jeepers Creepers," "Stardust," "Three Cool Cats," "Lulu's Back in Town," "No Moon at All" and "I Found A Million Dollar Baby" to name a few.

Casey MacGill is the heart of the band. From California, he is a classic Hollywood character in appearance and style. MacGill plays boogie-woogie, swing and stride piano. He blows a lyrical cornet, and his most unique instrumental voice is a 6-string tenor ukulele. He has been singing and arranging vocal harmonies for almost 30 years.

The Lodi Community Concert Association is pleased to sponsor this program which begins at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening, March 22, 2010, in the Charlene Powers Lange Performing Arts Theatre at Hutchins Street Square. The cost of a single ticket is $25 plus a handling fee and may be purchased at the Hutchins Street Square box office, 125 South Hutchins Street. Call 333-5550 for additional information.

This concert is being offered free to new members who subscribe to the 2010-2011 season on the evening of the March 22 program. Cost of the season membership is $65 for five concerts plus this Casey MacGill Trio program. For more information call 333-0360.
