Family-friendly Halloween fun in Lodi

Lodi’s going to the dogs this Halloween.

Yappy Halloween at LangeTwins Winery lets Rover and Fido get in on the spooky Halloween fun, too. From noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, the family-friendly event will feature a costume contest for furry family members and a parade for pups — on a leash, of course!

Tickets are $20 for same-day registration. The winery is located at 1525 E. Jahant Road, Acampo. For more information, call 209-334-9780 or visit www.langetwins.com.

At Bear Creek Community Church, things are taking a historical — and toddler-friendly — twist. Instead of focusing on the scary side of Halloween, the church is recreating a pioneer town at its Old West Harvest Faire.

Guests will have the chance to visit the “Trunk or Treat Miners’ Camp” and mount up for pony rides at the OK Corral. The Big Teepee will host crafts and face painting, and there will be live music.

Hungry? Buy a snack at the Chuck Wagon for four bits (that’s 50 cents). Costumes are welcome, but nothing scary, please.

The old West Harvest Faire will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church, 11171 N. Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi. For more information, call 209-951-9229 or visit www.bearcreek church.com.
