Patrick Simmons grew up in San Jose, and for most of his young
life, his music was influenced by his Bay Area upbringing.
But a trip to New Orleans changed all that. Simmons' fondness
for his experience in The Big Easy became an inspiration for the
Doobie Brothers' most successful hit, "Black Water."
