I drove out to the Mokelumne River today after the services. I never did expect to see his cherry orchard and his fields in such disarray.

On this cold and rainy October Acampo day.

The Lutheran Reverend promised us Alexander had ascended to a higher place ...

But if I had my wish, I would take a leaf from the Mokelumne and place his spirit and let it float past Diablo into the San Francisco Bay

On to the Pacific — past the Paradise Islands to a place where the old warriors gather and laugh, remembering finer days.

There I can see my

grandfather smiling while tending his orchard and pastures, a place where the cats and the moose can scamper and play.

I drove out to Bruella Road today.
