So you just realized Tuesday is Valentine’s Day, and you need to come up with a perfect way to sweep your significant other off of their feet. Nancy Beckman, CEO of Visit Lodi!, offered five suggestions for romantic getaways here in Lodi.
Spend a romantic night away.
“Book a room and spend a romantic overnight with your Valentine,” Beckman suggested.
Several Lodi-area hotels are offering “romance packages” for the special holiday, she said. For example, Wine & Roses has three different packages, themed around the hotel’s day spa, its award-winning restaurant, or more traditional romance.
The Inn at Locke House is also offering a romantic getaway package, or you can send your special someone a gift certificate toward a future stay.
Days Inn has a package that includes a stay in the whirlpool suite, a box of chocolates and a choice of champagne or sparkling apple cider, and breakfast.
Arrange for a couples massage.
Several of Lodi’s high-end day spas offer massage packages for two.
Wine & Roses offers a few different packages on their website, or couples can create their own experience.
“Anytime you come to the spa at Wine and Roses, you have access to the Jacuzzi,” said Melanie Lacey, the spa concierge. The hotel also has a co-ed steam room in the spa’s courtyard.
Couples can also try Perfect Balance, Sirius Day Spa and other local spas. Each has a different atmosphere, so it pays to find the one that’s just right.
Enjoy a romantic picnic, indoors or out.
If the weather is right, why not try an outdoor lunch or dinner at one of the gorgeous natural settings near Lodi?
“Purchase some gourmet cheese, olives, and salamis from Cheese Central and picnic at your favorite winery,” Beckman said.
Of course, if it’s wet — like it has been for a few weeks — it might be better to have your picnic indoors in front of a crackling fire, with some romantic music playing in the background.
Spend the day in Downtown Lodi.
Of course, there’s something to be said for a low-key, relaxed Valentine’s date.
“Stroll through Downtown Lodi and visit our art galleries, then pop into a café for a cup of coffee and a pastry,” Beckman said.
Stop to get crafty at the Mud Mill, which will have 2-for-1 studio fees on Valentine’s Day.
Top it off with a movie and a glass of wine at Lodi Stadium 12, in the comfortable reclining seats. On the edge of Downtown, it’s a great starting or ending point for an evening stroll.
Attend Lodi Wine & Chocolate Weekend.
Today and Sunday are the 20th annual Lodi Wine and Chocolate Weekend. Lodi’s wineries will have plenty to do, from entertainers to props for selfies. Look for a Golden Ticket on the back of your chocolate treat to win one of more than a hundred prizes, and dress up in 1920s togs to enter the Instagram costume contest.
