Pack a picnic, a blanket and maybe even your dancing shoes. It’s summertime, and the concert series are back in session, offering acoustic, rock and country concerts. Here are the lineups for two of the areas most-popular series happening at Jessie’s Grove Winery in Lodi and Ironstone Amphitheater in Murphys.
Jessie’s Grove Winery
Summit is a rock band who plays classic rock and current rock with a slice of country. They play the hits from Elvis, the Eagles, Journey, Keith Urban, Train and Matchbox 20.
The band is led by Dan Spediacci (lead vocals and keys) whose impressive vocal range, from Elvis’s “Little Sister” to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing,” belts out the best music from the 50s through today.
Band: Two Tone Steiny & The Cadillacs
Two-Tone Steiny & The Cadillacs is a high-energy West Coast Blues Band performing original music. The band’s most recent CD, Welcome To The Club — Featuring Kid Andersen, was voted Best Self-Produced Blues CD of 2010. They also won the Sacramento IBC Competition in 2010 and went on to Memphis to compete with bands from all over the world.
Renegade pays tribute Styx, one of the most well-known progressive rock bands to hit the world’s stages. Renegade is a live experience for the classic rock enthusiasts. With big rocker persona and a penchant for soaring power ballads, Renegade delivers rock performances reminiscent of the big stadium shows from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and today. Renegade remains true to accurately recreating the music of Styx. Renegade will also mix into their shows music from bands that have toured with Styx over the years. Bands like Journey, Boston, Kansas, Night Ranger and REO Speedwagon just to list a few.
Band: Ms. Lizzie & Her Cadillac Kings
Music has a long and vibrant history with mythology and a cast of characters all its own. Ms. Lizzie & Her Cadillac Kings continue to prove themselves the latest specialists-in-waiting on that continuum. Lizzie and her band, featuring Jim Damiano on guitar, can be heard at a number of venues. Lizzie’s vocals complement the passion of her guitar with equal eloquence. It’s precise, yet personal, fluid and melodic.
Band: The Kenny Frye Band
The Kenny Frye Band has established themselves as a top country music band based between Sacramento and the Bay Area. They perform popular musical hits along with memorable classics. They promise to deliver a high-energy, country-fried experience every time they take the stage.
Band: Shane Dwight
Over the past 10 years, Shane Dwight has performed over 2,000 live shows, released seven CDs with over 60,000 units sold, been a repeat performer on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise (West Coast and East Coast), headlined and performed at some of the biggest music festivals around the world, including Beale Street Music Festival, Bayfront Blues Festival, Bethlehem Musikfest, Ottawa Bluesfest and Portland Waterfront Blues Festival.
About Jessie’s Grove
Jessie’s Grove is located at 1973 W. Turner Road. Every concert is from 7 to 10 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. for wine club members and 6 p.m. for general admission. Tickets are $27 for general admission, $22 for wine club members and free for those under the age of 12. Guests can purchase their tickets in advance in the tasting room or over the phone, or at the door.
Band: Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Joan Jett is an originator, an innovator and a visionary. As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, she’s had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics “Bad Reputation,” “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You” and “Crimson and Clover.” She sits at the head of her own independent label, Blackheart Records, and was the first female artist to own and operate an independent record company. Jett’s music has become a permanent force in mainstream culture.
Band: Melissa Etheridge Live
Melissa Etheridge has been a core Island Records artist since the release of her critically-acclaimed eponymous RIAA double-platinum debut album. For several years, Etheridge’s popularity built around such memorable songs as “Bring Me Some Water” (from her debut), “No Souvenirs” (from Brave And Crazy) and “Ain’t It Heavy” (from Never Enough), for which she won her first Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal. Her highest charting album, Your Little Secret (No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200), included the hit single, “I Want to Come Over.”
Band: Big & Rich Party Like Cowboyz Tour featuring Cowboy Troy with special guest Whiskey Dawn
They are America’s Technicolor cowboys, brothers-in-arms in service to the creed that great music has no boundaries. Individually, John Rich and Big Kenny Alphin are first-rate musicians, songwriters, producers and entertainers. Ironstone Vineyards is located in Murphys in the central Sierra Nevada foothills between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park in Calaveras County.
