Tail-Waggers for Dec. 30, 2017: Deniro and Dora

Posted: Sunday, December 31, 2017 11:00 am

Deniro is an approximately 5-year-old, neutered pit bull terrier/Labrador retriever mix. He weighs approximately 40 pounds.

Deniro has a bit of an independent spirit, but he is very friendly and has been seeking out human companionship more and more as PALS volunteers work with him. He always seems to enjoy time outdoors, and he always takes a few laps as soon as he’s brought out to the dog run. He will slow down, sniff the air and watch the cars drive by before running leisurely laps again.

When he’s had his fill of playtime, Deniro settles down nicely, and that’s the perfect time to shower him with lots of love and affection. Deniro knows the command “sit” and walks fairly well on a leash, but continued basic obedience training is recommended.

Dora is 4 to 5 years old and weighs 21 pounds. She is very playful with other dogs and is always trying to make friends. She warms up to people after a minute.

Dora was pulled from a shelter and brought in as a stray. She is house-trained and uses both a doggy door and Potty Pads. She walks very well on a leash.

Dora enjoys playing with toys and loves baby carrots as a treat. She will put a paw on someone when she is seeking pets and affection.

Dora would do best in a home without young children, and should have a playful canine playmate for a companion.
