Cuffed jeans. Classic sneakers. Graphic tees. These are a staple of the 2014 fall outfits at Lodi’s high schools. Dress codes aside, students do their best to show off their style through the clothes they wear every day. Where does inspiration come from? Older siblings, famous singers and YouTube stars.

The digital revolution has played into how students plan their outfits.

Julio Hernandez, 18, gets ideas for his ensembles by scrolling through his Instagram feed. It’s a mobile app of photos posted by users Hernadez has subscribed to.

Brody Pedro-Reiss, 16, customizes T-shirts using designs and step by step DIY instructions posted online.

Kira Quisin, 15, searches for hairstyling and makeup tutorials on YouTube, along with looking for new ways to put together an outfit.

But for many students, school isn’t the place to show off their creativity.

Luke Price, 15, sets the example for his siblings by wearing tidy polo shirts, khaki shorts and running shoes.

McKenzie Burns, 17, is just as happy in cozy sweats and a tee when she’s sitting in class.
