When Laura McIntosh was growing up in Linden, autumn was spent picking walnuts in the family orchard. An uncle shook the tree branches by hand, making the hard nuts rain down. McIntosh and her cousins darted around, scooping up walnuts and singing a walnut harvest song her older cousin had made up.

These days, there’s a little less singing, and fewer walnuts, but fall is still a time for family gatherings and great food in the Morada home she shares with husband Tim and daughters, Luciana and Juliana.
