Ezra Berry is a third-grader in my classroom at Lodi Christian School and I believe he is a true Classroom Hero. He is hard worker and always does his best.
Ezra struggles in some areas but he never gives up. One day I worked with him individually on math and the next day he wrote me a thank you note for just doing my job.
He is a leader in my class and he doesn't know it and neither do the other children. The reason I say this is because Ezra has what is called Sturge-Weber Syndrome. This is a congenital disease with abnormal blood vessels on the outer layer of the brain which can cause calcification of the brain and atrophy of the brain tissue. Ezra never complains and I know there are days when he doesn't feel good but he still does his best.
Just recently he missed a week of school to have some tests done in Stanford. This is a way of life for him and he just puts on a smile day after day.
