Dear T2T: I am in middle school and would really like to do something meaningful, but I have no idea what. Something inside me tells me that I could be making a difference in this world, but I have no direction on where to take this feeling. Do you have any ideas on how I can get started making the world a better place to be? — Ready for Action
Response No. 1:
It’s great that you feel like you re obligated to do something more with your life, most people just go day by day not feeling the need to be the change this world needs. In middle school is the time where you find yourself and try to strive for a meaning for your purpose in life. My advice is to start off with little gestures and projects at first, then if you are not satisfied enough with those continue on the bigger and better things. For example, you should start doing things with out being told to, like cleaning up around the house and watching your siblings. You should do these things with out looking for compliments and the “thank you’s” back. People who want to make the world a better place to be in look at the bigger issue, and are usually reformist. You can’t look to change the world in a short amount of time, the truth is people don’t always take young people seriously. You can only look to change yourself and hope that others will follow. You should put your feelings of wanting to change the world to become a better place and put those morals into yourself and try to become the best you that you can be. I think your idea of wanting to create a better world is a great idea and that you should continue to pursue it. I wish you the best and hope you do not quit on this idea.

There are many things you can do to help better this world. It’s good that your passionate about wanting to make a difference in the world at such a young age. First step in doing this is finding what is the right path for you to take. Try finding something you like to do that can help the world whether it’s small or big. It doesn’t have to be a big goal to make a difference, even small goals have a big impact. Things such as recycling, community service, and donating blood can make a big difference. Other ideas to consider and joining the red cross, donating hair, or even tryout freerice.org which can be a fun way to provide food for needy communities. Any of these methods are good ways to make a difference, but above all do something.
