Spring semester is an exciting time at Lodi Academy! Our small size allows students to participate in a variety of extracurricular groups, and this time of year is full of outings and trips for our students.

The sophomore class recently returned from a week of Biology Camp at the Albion Field Station where they focused on marine life through science experiments, tide pooling and whale-watching.

Anatomy and physiology students will be visiting BloodSource this month to learn more about the “behind the scenes” of the donation process.

This week our musical groups are returning from a six-day tour of Southern California where they participated in a statewide music workshop and performance hosted by Loma Linda University. They rounded out their tour with visits to the Getty Museum and Disneyland. We are blessed to have a strong musical program here at Lodi Academy with 65 percent of our student body actively participating.

Students in physics and pre-calculus recently attended a two-day applied learning workshop at Pacific Union College.

Lodi Academy Titans boys and girls basketball teams recently went to the CIF playoffs. The golf team has started the CIF season and is practicing hard for weekly tournaments, working toward joining the playoffs again this year. Slow-pitch softball will be starting again in April.

Our art students won several awards after showing at the Lodi Community Art Gallery. They continue to explore various mediums and look forward to an upcoming visit to the Crocker Art Museum.

The senior class is greatly anticipating their six-day “senior trip” to Orlando, Fla. before graduation in May.

History students are beginning to plan for our biannual Junior/Senior American History tour to Washington D.C., New York and Boston next year. This continues to be a highlight for many students and allows them to develop a tangible connection to the history that they have been studying.

On April 10 from 1 to 5 p.m., our National Honors Society is sponsoring a blood drive for Baby Liam. This special little boy has hereditary Spherocytosis and requires frequent transfusions. BloodSource will facilitate the drive on the Lodi Academy campus. Community support would be greatly appreciated as we work together to help this special little boy.

We are proud of our students and what they accomplish. The staff here at Lodi Academy is continually looking for ways to expand on classroom instruction and we have found these outings to be very rewarding for our students.

We are now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 school year. If you are interested in learning more about the active Christian high school experience we offer or would like to schedule a personal tour please contact the office at 209-368-2781.
