Is it wrong to expect friends’ appreciation?

Dear T2T: I try to be a good friend to my friends by helping them out with their problems and always being there for them when they are having issues. When they are there for me, I do things for them that let them know that I really do appreciate their friendship and how they are there for me.

They do help me when I have problems, too. That’s not my issue. The problem is that they never show any appreciation to me when I do backbends to help them out.
