Dear T2T: I’m 14 and most boys in my class don’t seem to pay much attention to me. I have ginger hair even though it’s really quite blonde in some places. My twin sister gets a lot more attention than me. She has longer hair and a way bigger and louder personality.

Recently I’ve become really good friends with some popular girls and they seem to really like me so I’ve been a bit louder. I would say I’m funny but not show-off. I just find it hard to flirt because I feel stupid and obvious. I don’t think boys like me but I want them to.

Would you say I should focus on my personality or making myself look better (more makeup, prettier clothes)? I do already wear nice clothes (I’m not a scumbag, don’t worry!) I just need your advice, thank you in advance. — Looking for a look back

Dear Looking for a Look Back: I understand that you want boys to pay more attention to you. You are 14 and that is usually the age when people start to be more interested in having a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Don’t worry about your appearance and just worry about your personality. Don’t just completely let yourself go, but guys will focus on your personality more. There will be that one guy that will appreciate you for who you are, so don’t worry about what everybody else thinks.

Most guys will love the person you are and don’t focus on what your twin sister acts and looks like. You guys are two different people and it doesn’t matter. If you want to flirt, just find a way to do it without making it awkward or obvious.

The best way I think to flirt with him is to make him laugh and just be yourself. Don’t change yourself for any guy because that will just make him control you and just make you unhappy. When you meet that one special person, you wont feel the need to flirt because you’ll fell that spark. Right now you should just focus on you and doing well in school to prepare for the future.

I am sure that guys like you but they are not as open as girls are. You are going to have to take a risk to see if that guy likes you and if not it will be OK. I hope this advice helps and just remember to not worry and your time with boys will come and don’t rush.
