Congratulations, Lodi High School Speech and Debate Team, for yet another amazing tournament!

Over the fall break, we travelled to Gregori High School in Modesto for our third YFL tournament on Oct. 13.

We performed quite well overall, starting with Ryan Ozminksji, a sophomore, who tied for first place in Open Impromtu and took third in Open Original Oratory.

Carli Million, a sophomore, placed third in Open Impromptu and Daniel Anaforian, also a sophomore, was fourth.

Grant Goehring, a junior, placed third in Open International Extemp. He and his partner Ross Mattheis won two of their rounds in Open Public Forum Debate. Ross, a junior, also won two of his rounds in Open Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Matthew Mellor, a senior, and Jacob Neal, a junior, won a round in Novice Public Forum. Jacob also tied for third in Impromptu.

Garrett Wilson, a senior, placed fourth in Open Congress.

Nick Galtman, a freshman, won a round in Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Grace Kinser, a freshman, placed sixth in her first tournament, in Open Dramatic Interpretation. She also won one of her rounds in her first Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

We’d like to thank our students for participating in our tournament, and once again congratulate them on doing so well. Go Lodi!

Written by Grace Kinser and Jessica Roley, speech and debate chroniclers extraordinaire.
