The Lodi Middle School math department wanted to do something to let the community of Sandy Hook know that they were cared for.
Schools from all over the nation made snowflakes of all shapes and sizes to be used in creating a winter wonderland for the Sandy Hook students.
When the Newtown students returned to school, more than 1,200 of the thousands of snowflakes adorning the new building were from Lodi Middle School students.
“It touched my heart when I heard the president ... calling roll during his speech. I call roll every day. Sending snowflakes is a small, little thing to do, but it feels good to do something,” said Lodi Middle School math teacher Lora Jeanne Bethards.
