What type of music do you listen to? Favorite artists?

I like all kinds of music from Stevie Wonder to Mumford and Sons and everything in between. I grew up in a very musical household where I got my deep appreciation for different kinds of music. Practically everyone in my family sings or plays an instrument. Just about every family gathering has a musical performance.

What is one thing that your students would never guess about you?

Maybe that I have led Worship on and off for about 13 years in various churches or possibly, that I'm in a band called “Clerical Estate.” (shameless plug!) We play monthly at House of Coffees, you should come check us out.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies are road cycling, traveling with my family, performing and writing music.

Do you like to dance? What’s your best dance move?

Are you kidding? I've got moves like Jagger.

What is something that makes you happy?

My wife makes me happy. She is the most amazing person that I know.

What is something that upsets you?

Lack of parent involvement in their children's lives.

Was there a particular teacher that had a strong influence on your life? Tell me about them.

Several but I think of High School. Ms. Heinrich comes to mind. I loved her wit and the way she could make me smile when things were not going well ... and her mad teaching skills of course. Mrs. Gavin also had a strong influence on me, she was tough and made me strive for my best. Another teacher is my mentor teacher Chris White of Santa Rosa. He helped me navigate the early years of my teaching career and continues to be a dear friend and positive influence on my life.

How would you like to be remembered?

As a kind man who loved his wife and children. As a dedicated teacher and as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

Have you ever met someone famous? If so, who and how?

I met Tom Hanks when I was really young. He was in a play with my uncle just before his “Bosom Buddy Days.” I also had Jordan Perkins as a student...I hear he's pretty famous.

If you could teach one life lesson to every student, what would it be?

To work their hardest, to their fullest potential, and never give up.
