Upcoming scholarship deadlines

Postmarked by April 19: San Joaquin Human Resource Association will award $750 scholarships to San Joaquin County seniors who will attend a 2- or 4-year college in fall 2013. Must have: 1) minimum 3.3 GPA, 2) intent to major in Business Administration, Management, Human Resources, Psychology or Education and 3) commitment to service in their community. Applications are online.

April 21: New: Student Insights is sponsoring a scholarship contest for high school seniors who will attend a 2- or 4-year college or career-technical school. One $4,000, two $1,000 and nine $500 scholarships will be awarded. NO: SAT/ACT, essay, or long application forms are required!

Apply online at by completing a 15-20 minute survey about colleges in our area. Winners will be selected via a random drawing.

April 25: Lodi Garden Club — will award three $500 scholarships to local seniors whose career plans are related to the objectives of the Garden Club, e.g.; botany, conservation, entomology, floriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture, plant biology or genetics, urban planning, agriculture, viticulture, crop science, computer agriculture or agricultural economics. Visit Career Center for more information.

April 25, 2:30 p.m.: Lodi Education Association will award $5,000 in scholarships to LUSD seniors who plan to pursue a career in education at a 2- or 4-year college in fall 2013. Must have a 3.0 minimum GPA. Primary consideration is merit. Pick up an application in your Career Center.

April 29: Lambda Theta Phi will award four $500 scholarships to young women in San Joaquin County who are graduating seniors. Minimum 3.0 GPA and community involvement are required. Pick up an application in up your Career Center. Application must be received in Stockton by April 29.

May 3: Civil Service Employees Insurance Group sponsors an essay competition for high school seniors who are children of full-time or retired public employees. (i.e. firefighters, police officers, teachers, school personnel, postal employees, military, federal, state and local government) Scholarships of up to $1500 will be awarded based on the merit of essays that propose ways to reduce the accident rate among teenagers. Forms are online.
