Dear T2T: I have so many stressful things going on in my life right now that I feel like I am going to have a meltdown. The pressure is almost too much to bare. I don’t want to share the details of what’s going on, but I would like some advice on how all of you deal with stress. I need to find something that works for me so if you give me some ideas, I can give those a try before I implode. — Burdened Brain

A lot of people deal with stress in different ways. You’re not the only one suffering from stress. I’ve had many experiences were I broke up with my girlfriend that I’ve dated for a little more than a year and I had to deal with finals at school and my mom would always come home from work grumpy cause she had to work grave yard. I dealt with it by staying after school and doing my homework. It wasn’t very easy, but nothing is really easy. I’ll admit that it took a while, but ask anyone right now and they’ll say I’m one of the happiest people. It really depends on what your problems are. Some of my friends listen to music, and some just don’t talk to anyone and just stay quiet. You can even look on the internet. The internet has everything you will ever need to know. In past experiences, I’ve looked up how not to be awkward in a conversation, how to study for tests, and even how to deal with stress. I wish I could help you more, but I wish good luck.

Feeling stressed is very common among high school students. While at times it can feel overwhelming, it is important not to let it overcome your life. Some ways to manage the stress from your multiple engagements are to decide what’s the most important to you right now. After some thinking you might be able to cut out the things that are stressing you out, and may not even matter. Another thing to keep in mind is time management. You could be spending too much time on one activity when another could deserve more time. Other possible solutions include making a schedule, designating relaxation periods, finding someone or something to discuss your thoughts with, and finding an activity that you do purely for fun. Hopefully these techniques can help you deal with whatever stress is occurring in your life.
