“What was the most challenging case you’ve ever defended?”, “Who is the scariest person you have had to defend?”, “How do you defend someone who you think is guilty?”, “What’s the best part about your job?”

Jim Elliot Christian High School students fired one question after another when local defense attorney Russell Humphrey visited the Speech and Debate class as a guest speaker to explain his career and the process of debate. Though a complex domain of the law, Humphrey broke it down into simplistic terms that the students could understand.

Engaged students learned how to become an attorney, about various criminal charges and the process of criminal defense and how to structure a debate argument to win.
