Bianca Botello is a second-grade student in Ms. Farrell s class. She sits next to another student who struggles academically, and on her own has been able to determine what things she can do to help.
She finds the correct page number in her book, she writes her homework assignment in her planner, she helps her sound out words, and the list goes on. She never gives the student the answers to problems, but the help is always there. Mostly, she is friendly and kind and Kailani considers her a good friend.
Robert Castro is a third-grade student in Ms. Martinez s class. Robert comes from a family of seven siblings all under the age of 11. He respects and looks out for his sisters and brother. Robert is only eight years old, and even at this young age he is very protective of his brother and sisters. At school, he uses the bucks he ears from positive behavior to purchase items for his siblings. Robert is generous and thinks of others before himself. In the classroom, he is challenged by grade level standards but still comes to school with a positive attitude. He participates well, and helps his teacher when asked to. When children get hurt at school, he consoles them by sharing personal experiences and telling them that he got better with time and they will too. Roberts is a sweet child who is always willing to offer his assistance when needed.
Angel Sanchez is a sixth-grade student in Ms. Jacinto s Class. He shared with a teacher an event that happened to him at home in the month of September. His older sister walked out from her bedroom in a very confused state and asked him who he was. Then she collapsed to the floor and started to tremble and was in shock. Angel was the only other person home at the time. He ran to a locked-box where his mother has a spare cell phone and he broke the lock and called 911. He said two fire trucks and one police car and ambulance arrived and he opened the door to the First Responders. They took his sister to the hospital. When his mother arrived at home, Angel and the police where able to tell the mother where the daughter went. Angel showed clear thinking of what to do in an emergency, and took quick and correct actions for his older sister. Angel is very mature for his age, and he is someone who is willing to help anyone in need.
