Dear T2T: I just ended senior year and it seems like all of my friends know what they are going to do and where they are going to go, but not me. Like seriously, I really have no idea. I feel very alone and stupid that I don’t have a direction. Am I the only one not ready to move forward? — Standstill

I know that the end of high school is here, but don’t panic if you don’t know what you are doing. I am also a senior in high school and I also don’t know what to do after high school. You still have a lot of time to think about what you are going to do. Just think about your interests and then you can research what colleges you can go to for that interest. You can also talk to a counselor and find out what kind of options you have and find out things out like the costs of college. Trust me, you are not alone because there are many people who don’t know what they are doing after high school. My advice is to go to a college that you like and then when you find what you want to study, focus just on that. You can go on college tours to find out what college is right for you. I think I am going to go to a junior college first so I can get my general classes done and find out what I want to do which can also be an option for you. I hope this helps you and just remember that talking to your counselors can really help you find what you are looking for.

I appreciate you telling your situation to us, and I want to know that every senior has faced this problem once in their life. If you are uncertain about what path to take in the future then I recommend asking your parents and close ones to help you get a notion on what you should do. Don’t stress too much about the future, and remember that your friends must have been planning their future ahead of time. You still have plenty of time to do that, however don’t wait too long and study yourself on what you like and dislike to further your listings on what to do in life. It’s hard for people to just know what to do in life, you have to figure it out for yourself naturally. Do you like working with kids? Do you like cooking? Do you want to work with animals? Do you want to travel? Ask those type of questions to yourself and it might help you decide on what to do in life. What you want to do in life will be based on your choices in colleges. This should be your first priority. Keep your head up, and if you’re still uncertain you can go to certain websites where they test to see all your capabilities and skills to list what you’re good at.
