What type of volunteer work do you do?

I’ve helped at the LOEL Center, Salvation Army, St. Joachim Church and served on the Lodi Youth Commission this past year.

Why do you find service efforts rewarding?

It’s a good feeling when you’re helping others and to know you are doing something useful.

What was your favorite part of working with the seniors at LOEL?

I really enjoyed watching them have a good time. It’s really neat because it’s a whole different generation.

What has serving taught you?

In life, you can’t just worry about yourself. You have to think about others. When helping others, you’re also helping yourself by learning important lessons.

You just graduated high school. Knowing what you know now, what is one piece of advice you would give to incoming freshmen?

Take high school seriously. It is the first step (to your future). Make sure to enjoy it too because it goes by quickly.

What is your next stepping stone?

I am going to Fresno State to study communications. I would love to work for the San Francisco Giants doing broadcasting. I love baseball.

If you could pick a phrase or words to live by, what would they be?

No matter what anyone tells you, words and ideas can change the world. — Dead Poets Society
