Energy conservation protects the earth

It seems unthinkable that we could save the world’s natural resources one person at a time. But we can. Even the smallest contribution collectively makes a huge difference.

Consumer awareness in energy conservation has increased. Such credit goes to nonprofit organization programs, grassroots initiatives, public service announcements and the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy StarŪ Program, which sets energy-saving guidelines that products must meet to use the Energy Star logo on their packaging. Organic food consumption and the use of environmentally friendly cleaning products are on the rise because of the growing concern of pesticide use and chemical use and disposal. So it seems that we as a society are becoming more and more environmentally conscious and taking a more active role in protecting the Earth than in years past. Whether it be eating organic foods, conserving energy and water by the products we buy or donating our time and money to environmental causes, there is always something we can do — no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.

Using wood to meet our heating needs is a way we can both conserve energy and help reduce the use of fossil fuels like coal or oil. Once they are used, they are gone forever. Since wood is a renewable fuel source, it can be replenished by growing more trees. Fireplaces, indoor wood-burning stoves, and outdoor wood-burning furnaces are examples of wood-burning units available to heat our homes.

Outdoor wood-burning furnaces are a more complete heating system than the other units mentioned that can heat your home, garage, shop, domestic hot water, pool or spa and can heat larger areas up to 20,000 square feet. For instance, the WoodMaster Outdoor Wood Furnace provides a great burn time because it’s designed to give the fire the correct amount of air needed for optimal burn efficiency. It interfaces with your home’s existing heating system and is installed outside. It burns all types of wood, but dry seasoned wood provides the best burn time and efficiency. In addition, if you have your own wood, an outdoor wood-burning furnace can deliver 100 percent energy savings when used as your exclusive heat source. You won’t rely on fuel companies, reducing or even eliminating the high costs associated with buying fuel. Even better, an outdoor wood furnace can pay for itself in fuel savings in as little as one year in some situations.
