Bring light into dark areas of the home(WMS) — Tired of dark hallways? Trying to "hide" the cluttered contents of a teenager's bedroom or a messy home office? Consider adding an acrylic block insert unit to your interior door. New from Hy-LiteĈ Products, the one-piece lightweight doorlights are fast and easy to install. Even novice do-it-yourselfers can tackle the job in less than an hour. Designed to add a beautiful, decorative touch to the interior of the home, the insert units come completely pre-assembled and feature durable acrylic blocks. These obscure blocks allow light to pass from room to room while "hiding" the contents of the room. Available nationwide in home improvement retail stores, the units brighten up dark hallways and interior areas of the home -- like laundry rooms and closets -- while still protecting homeowner privacy. The interior block unit installs quickly in most standard, hollow core interior doors. Just pop the door off its hinges, put it on sawhorses and then cut out the opening. The acrylic block unit fits directly in the opening and is ready to be put back up and hinged into place immediately. The lightweight units come pre-assembled with step-by-step instructions and require no additional reinforcements to door jambs. Available in a variety of block patterns, each unit measures 22 inches wide by 70 inches high, so they fit standard 13/8 inch, 30-inch wide interior doors. The door inserts are made to fit both slab and panel doors. Hy-Lite acrylic blocks are 70 percent lighter than installed glass block, making the door units easy to work with. The door inserts are constructed of hermetically sealed blocks to help prevent internal condensation. The obscure nature of the acrylic block protects homeowner privacy, so the interior door units can also be used in bathroom and bedroom doors.
