Lodi High Schools top students
Megan Andrews Goals: Immediately after graduation, I plan to spend a fun-filled week in Hawaii with my best friends. On a more serious note, I plan to attend Boise State University in the fall as a chemistry major and compete on the gymnastics team. I would like to get a doctorate in pharmacy and live a happy, successful life with a family. Activities: CSF, Nerds Club, Modern Language Club, Friday Night Live, Young Democrats, Asian Persuasion, Students In Prevention, Feeding the Homeless, competitive gymnastics and a member of Delta Epsilon Phi honor society. Awards and scholarships: Two Governors Scholar awards, Distinguished Student nomination, honor roll, CSF Sealbearer, recognition in Whos Who Among American High Students, and a full-ride gymnastics scholarship. Most memorable experience: Going camping at Camanche with a group of friends, which turned out to be a scary and exciting adventure. Parents: Dana and Joanne Andrews of Acampo
Age: 18 Goals: I plan to attend San Francisco State University and major in Biology. I will pursue a career in medicine, and most likely obtain a doctorate in pharmacy. I would like to have a family in addition to my career. Activities: I was involved in CSF, FNL, Young Democrats Club, Nerds Club, Interact Club, Students in Prevention, feeding the homeless and Lodi Junior Womens Club. Awards and scholarships: Governors Scholar, honor roll, Whos Who Award, Top of the Class Award, Pen Womens Scholarship and NEMA. Most memorable experience: Going to a cabin with a group of friends for the weekend. We played in the snow and had fun. Parents: Reed and Lesley Fujii of Woodbridge
Age: 18 Goals: My immediate plans are to attend California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo under the major of mechanical engineering. My future career goal is to become a thrill-ride designer. This has always been a dream of mine because I want my career to be involved with something I love. Activities: CSF, school site council, Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, Nerds Club, math study center tutor, volunteer as boys and girls soccer coach. Awards and scholarships: Governors Scholar, AP Scholar, Whos Who Award, The Record Pinnacle Award, Vacarezza Murdaca Scholarship and various Science Olympiad medals. Most memorable experience: Participating in Lodi High Schools Nerds Pageant. It was the first time I had ever performed on stage and I had a blast. Parents: Brent and Jayne Crabill of Lodi
Age: 17 Goals: I am going to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles to possibly major in public relations and minor in cinema business. I want to be a public relations worker for a film business such as Fox or Warner Bros. Having a happy family with whom I live near the beach is very important as well. Activities: Future Business Leaders of America treasurer, speech and debate team secretary, founding member of the Breakthrough Club, Link Crew, CSF and Greater Lodi Area Youth Commissioner and chairwoman. Awards and scholarships: Lodi High Letterman in swimming and water polo, Governors Scholar, Tristate finalist, Golden State Exam honors, honor roll, CSF, ninth in state FBLA contest in desktop publishing and selected for Rotarys Camp Royal. Most memorable experience: During the summer between my junior and senior year, I was able to travel to Montreal, Canada as a foreign exchange student. For two weeks I lived in the home of Marie Paule, a French-speaking host, studied French and explored the city with friends from all over the world. Age: 17 Goals: I plan to attend the University of Southern California and study the communications area with an emphasis in entertainment. My future goal is to make the best of my life and talents. After all, I am only going to live once. Activities: CBC Youth Ministry, Mexico missions for two years, swimming, water polo, soccer, speech and debate, CSF, drama, FBLA, Interact Club, Block L Club, Breakthrough Club, Link Crew member, Teen Lead, Nerds Club, SJTV intern, Congressman Richard Pombos office, SJSFC Premier competitive. Awards and scholarships: Girls State, Governors Scholar, Bank of America Plaque winner and CSF Sealbearer. Most memorable experience: Completing my Rube Goldberg Project with partner Felicity for my physics final junior year. It was crazy fun. Parents: Russell and Janet Ray of Lodi
Age: 17 Goals: Attend a four-year university studying aeronautical engineering and receive a doctorate in this area. Use my education in aeronautical engineering to develop aircraft and spacecraft components, structure, and theory. Activities: Nerds Club co-president, Breakthrough Club co-founder, Science Olympiad, Boy Scouts, Lodi Youth Commission, track and field, cross country, Mokelumne River Storm Drain Detectives, Lodi Lake docents, school site council, Science Bowl and Lodi Public Library Internet tutor. Awards and scholarships: Boys State 2001, Eagle Scout, Pinnacle Team 2002, Governors Scholar, Golden State Sealbearer, CSF Sealbearer, San Joaquin Engineers Council Scholarship, Elks Most Valuable Student Award, Embry-Riddle University, Presidential Scholarship, Voice of Democracy Award and Top of the Class Award. Most memorable experience: Raising over $2,500 through the Gilbert Nunez Memorial Fun Run to fund at least two $1,000 scholarships for graduating Lodi High School seniors. Age: 18 Goals: Attend Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. unless I am taken off the waiting list at Stanford or Yale. I hope to major in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, or cellular and molecular biology and perhaps minor in music or international studies. I hope to become a successful doctor in the U.S. so I can be able to help people in developing countries. Activities: Breakthrough Club, Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, Hugh OBrian Youth Leadership, junior volunteer at Lodi Memorial Hospital, Science Olympiad, jazz band, speech and debate, Science Bowl, junior class president and track and field. Awards and scholarships: Frank H. Buck Scholar, third place in robot rambler at 2002 NorCal Science Olympiad, Bank of America third place in liberal arts, Superior Distinction degree from the National Forensic League, State Speech Qualifier in original advocacy and oratorical interpretation, Breakthrough Club, first place in parliamentary debate at the UOP invitational event, AP Scholar with Distinction, Mr. Nerd 2001 and jazz bands seventh- and ninth-place wins at Monterey Jazz Festival. Age: 18 Goals: Attending Stanford University as a biological sciences major in the fall. I want to be a medical doctor, possibly a surgeon. Activities: Nerds Club, cheerleading, diving, Powder Puff football, ASB treasurer, Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, Block L Club, Interact Club, Link Crew, prom committee, CSF and Future Homemakers of America. Awards and scholarships: Governors Scholar, MARC Club, Eleanor P. Touhey Friedberger Education Award, John Fletcher Student Government, Lodi-Tokay Rotary Club, Stanford University grants and scholarships, Bank of America plaque award for mathematics and science, CSF Sealbearer, scholar athlete, Lodi Police Department Student of the Month, Winter Fest court and Homecoming court. Most memorable experience: Cheerleading at the second Lodi vs. Tokay basketball game this year. It was the first time Lodi defeated Tokay in basketball since I had been in high school. Age: 18 Goals: I will attend UC Berkeley and play water polo and possibly major in political science or human biology. First I will see how long I can play water polo, such as 2008 U.S. Olympic Team, or play professional in Italy or Greece. I hope to attend graduate school, earn a doctorate and then go on to possibly teach or practice sports medicine. I also plan to coach water polo. Activities: Water polo, swimming, student government and Link Crew. Awards and scholarships: Athletic scholarship to UC Berkeley for water polo, the Dale Lacky CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Scholar Athlete scholarship and Cal Berkeley Alumni scholarship Most memorable experience: Dressing up with my friends and going crazy at the basketball games.
