Lockeford School in the 1900s

School is in session in this vintage photograph. Lockeford School children and their teacher pause outside for a photograph during recess in the early 1900s. The Old Lockeford Schoolhouse still stands on Jack Tone Road through the efforts of the Lockeford Historical Society. The school grounds will come alive with Civil War-era activity on Aug. 24, with the third annual Living History and Civil War Encampment. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
