Long before equality of the sexes became a catch phrase, Lodi's
Carrie Beckman showed that a woman could do a man's work.
On New Year's Day 1891, a baby girl was born on a bed in ranch
home south of Lodi. She was Fred and Louise (Bohne) Beckman's first
child. They named her Carrie.
