The condition of underweight children in the Lodi Schools has greatly improved since the opening of school last year, according to a report made yesterday at the local offices of the San Joaquin Local Health district. The percentage of children who are 10 percent or more underweight has greatly decreased in each of the five Lodi grammar schools.

Tests were made in September and recommendations made in all cases where children were found to be underweight. Similar tests were made again in February with the happy result of great improvement shown. This improvement has been aided by the local nurse making home calls and recommending diets, more rest for the child and other suggestions. In this manner is made a sort of preventorium for the underweight child.
