Nearly 153 years ago, L. M. Morse and his wife Eva Morse began a cross-country journey by ox cart that landed them in Lodi. Here they raised their family and planted their legacy in the land, a home that still stands and children who made lasting contributions to their community.

On May 5, 1859, the 29-year-old Morse, along with his 25-year-old wife and almost 2-year-old son Freddie, set out with other family members on their overland trek from Compton, Kane County, Ill. to California.
